we now want to move on to correspondent richard ross who was the as that press conference occurred. brian, what can you tell us? >> brian are you here? >> i'm here. just getting set up with the state police. they are expected to give us an update. as you said, the highest priority right now, find suspect number two. he is the one identified by the fbi yesterday as one of the bombers. and now he was seen as part of the stickup at the 7-eleven in cambridge and there are photographs there from the surveillance cameras and they are certain, according to the state police, that he is the same person who the fbi was looking for. it was quite a scene here as they race down the streets of this quiet town late at night on thursday and through the morning here. with one police officer dead and
1:47 am
another one in very critical condition from the shootouts with these two individuals. it's clear that they were exactly as the fbi put it, armed and very, very dangerous. and that danger continues at th point and, linsey have been describinghe conditions. if you are driving, don't stop to pick up anybody. >> you told us earlier about an anecdote of an a a bc police producer who was carrying a backpack and they had or on the ground at one point. can you describe that story, again? >> i can do better than that. meg, describe what happened when you were there and the police came to you. go ahead. >> i was told it was a very unsafe area and there was a suspect who was dropping bombs out of backpacks and i needed to vacate immediately. >> how did they regard you?
1:48 am
>> they thought i could potentially be a suspect? >> what did they tell you? >> the backpack i was wearing immediately caught their eye and i couldn't be in the area at all. >> weapons were drawn? >> weapons were drawn. >> were you pushed to the ground? >> yeah. >> how was that? >> terrifying. my heart stopped. >> keep up the good work. that's exactly what happened. we now have members of the squad team automatic weapons over here who are apparently guarding us in case this person who's at large decides that he would act here. so, continue to be a very tense situation. >> if you could just stay with osfor a mome us for aoment longer. you said upwards of 1,000 law e area. every agency descended upon this small town of watertown, massachusetts. can you describe the scene. you said at one point it was kind of frantic and slowed down a little bit.
1:49 am
how about now? >> apparently, we're told they just found another device down the road here. and they're coming back and forth with reinforcements coming in. whatever's happening is happening somewhere down the road there and, you know, we are blocks from getting down there because it is so dangerous and sort of unsecure at this point. but the huge law enforcement presence continues here and, obviously, it's not going to let up until they find this person who is at large. my hunch is that when the sun comes up, that helps law enforcement to find this person. right now, he's under the cover of darkness with weapons and it's a tense situation. and i think they're afraid he may break into someone's home. this is a man who if the charges are correct, has not hesitated to put a bomb near the feet of young children. so, he is considered very dangerous. >> brian, obviously, not only looking for the second spect,
1:50 am
but also looking for potally any backpack bomb devices he may or may not have stashed in his get away, which hopefully won't last too much longer. but we heard a question to the local police earlier in a press conference, will there be any controlled explosions? at the time the answer was no, but, clearly, we don't know what is happening behind you. if they find any kind of backpack, we could imagine that could be an option? >> absolutely. this is no time to wear a black backpack in this neighborhood. >> you got that right. >> stay with us just a little bit longer. could you talk about the tone of this press conference? they seemed like they had a lot to get to, a lot of information that they wanted to disseminate to the public. once it was, the cameras were no longer on them, what was the tone? did they say anything else, did they share anything else with you, the reporters that you could tell us? >> it was very, very

business-like and the point was not so much to give us information, but to speak almost directly to the people of watertown about the risk that they now face with a person who is armed and dangerous on the loose. and the instructions to the people of watertown were very clear doing what they call a reverse 911, where they're calling out to homes to make sure that people if they are there, are there any problems? are you okay? has this person broken in somewhere or is he hiding in a basement? the tone from the state police them, another one still one of ere and, you knat rge, being chased probably puts him in one of most dangerous situation you can be because if he's cornered. >> we just talked to linsey davis who mentioned that some people are just curious and coming out of their homes. not a good ide have peopl
